fight practise waivers

Postby caius » Thu Jul 31, 2008 4:55 pm

I recently started again as MOS out here and was wondering what the standard practise is as far as waivers are concerned. I have just started using a multiple person event waiver. We have fighters and spectators at our standard practise.

Hey there,

There is no standard practice. Each group has it's own method and hopefully some will be explained here. The basic rule is do whatever is easiest to get it done.
My personal preference is (and I believe this is how Borealis does it - someone can correct me later) to have a binder with a whole bunch of copies of the waiver. Everyone - fighter or not, member or not - signs in & pays the fee if there is one. Then at reporting time the signed waivers are sent off. It's all kept in one place, no one has to chase down who's a member & who's not. This binder can also be used for demos where waivers are also required. Or there is a sign in sheet designed for the members to fill in just so we as a group know who attending practice and who's not. http://antir.sca.org/Pubs/forms/27_Fighter_Practice.pdf
They sign it once and initial the space for each attendance. Non-members would still have to sign the regular waiver.

As for which waiver, yes, use the adult roster waiver.

the waiver I was using was http://www.antir.sca.org/Pubs/forms/21_ ... Waiver.pdf due to the fact that we have both blue card holders and others. Is this acceptable or is the membership # necessary for other reasons.

As I mentioned last night, yes that's the important one to use. Membership numbers aren't important since it's the non-member's signature that counts. But it means you can do it 3 ways: get everyone to sign, get just the non-members to sign or get the non-members to sign the 21_waiver and the members to sign & initial the other sheet. Whatever is easiest and gets the job done.

Using 27 and 21 now, since it minimizes paperwork for blue-card fighters and offers an encouragement to non-carded attendees to get their memberships/blue cards. A little extra work for me, but more benefit.
I'm a newbie and a stick jock. Please explain things thoroughly and in small words.
